Caring for ALL in the community

Welcome

NET A Charity for the over

60’s In Garforth and the

surrounding 12 villages of

East Leeds covering 45 sq.

miles.

Its ethos is summed up by a comment from one of NET’s clients who commented on our facebook page after being escorted through the vaccine process at the Kippax Health Centre ”You do so much for the community and never want praise, you just want to help because you care” This comment sums up NET’s ethos of supporting the over 60s and over the past two years supporting the community. NET could not operate without the volunteers who work with us. They are the ones that should be applauded for what NET achieves and the services NET provides.

“Not only bingo tea and cakes”.

That has always been our

motto and through out the

pandemic we have

maintained contact with all

our members. We have

provided not only essential

foods but little bags of cheer.

Community CoNnEcTions In March 2020 NET Garforth became the Community Care Hub Lead Organisation for the Garforth and Swillington & Kippax, Methley Wards. We embraced this role to support our communities but could not have delivered what we did without the invaluable support of the wonderful organisations in our area. The last 18 months has seen some amazing working partnerships develop and we have been able to support, not only older people in our area, but families and younger people who have struggled through the pandemic for many different reasons. The connections we have made have enabled us all to focus on the needs of our communities and to develop the support and care they need. We would like to continue with these partnerships and support, so from October NET will be developing two new Community Connections coffee mornings in Garforth and Kippax. Community Connections will be an informal coffee morning, providing information and advice tailored to the needs of the community. The purpose of Community Connections is to: 1/ Offer a safe and friendly environment for those more socially isolated, to come along and meet other people 2/ Offer information, advice and support on the different services available in the local area ---> continued on community Hub page

Working with Leeds

Community Healthcare.

NHS Trust

NET has worked with NHS Community Healthcare NHS Trust for many years. We were contacted prior to the vaccine roll out to give our recommendations on the best way of rolling out vaccines to the elderly in our area. When the NHS Community Healthcare NHS Trust decided where and how inoculations would take place we were asked to arrange for volunteer support at the centres. It was important that all those offered a vaccination could do so safely and efficiently when attending centres. We continue to recommend every eligible person to have a vaccination including booster jabs. We continue to support Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust on various projects.

NET Continues to Support The

Community

Since March 2020 NET has not only supported the over 60’s and their carers but also with other members of the community needing support during the Covid epidemic. The photographs at the top of the page shows nurses back at the Dover Street Leg Club, doctors prior to the pandemic helping out at a Dover Street coffee morning as part of their university training. They are now on the NHS frontline. Volunteers supporting the community at the first community coNnEcTions event. see

All Systems Go. ? We Hope? We are resuming groups as safely as possible under government / LCC guidance. This has resulted in reduced numbers able to attend each event and we cannot accept drop in clients. If you would like to find out what is available please contact a member of staff via phone or e mail.
NET raises over £ 400 for Ukrainians who have come over to Leeds. For more information and a welcoming poem go to events diary page.
