Whilst NET has over 25 years’ experience of supporting older people in their local communities, this group will be open to other age groups too, as we try to support the more vulnerable in the community and assist in their transition back to self- reliance with sustainable outcomes. We will engage in conversation with individuals, offering information, advice and guidance to help to ensure that any wider issues are picked up which may help to tackle the root cause of the situation the individual is presenting in. We would like the sessions to be a social event and refreshments will be served throughout the morning and with the help of our wonderful NET volunteers, we will bring people together in a supportive all-inclusive environment. Our volunteers will draw on their own local knowledge and life experience to motivate and support people, enabling them to be confident members of their community again. The sessions will provide an opportunity for other local charities, support groups and organisations to come along and chat to people. By talking to members of the community we will determine what challenges they are facing and the support or guidance they would like. Events started in October 2021 Community Connections – Garforth Next dates to be arranged. Building on the success of our first Community Information Day in Garforth we are currently planning more dates for 2022. At this time the coffee morning at the Miners Welfare will not be restarting, however if you are interested in meeting for a coffee with others on a Tuesday morning, please get in touch! Contact any member of staff at Dover Street. Community Connections – Kippax Coffee Mornings Every Thursday, 10am – 12 noon Kippax Methodist Church Chapel Street Kippax LS25 7HA To help launch the Community Connections group we will be holding larger information sharing events during 2022 where we would like to invite local organisations and support groups to showcase their services and activities to the community. This event will be promoted in the local area to encourage people to come along and find out what their community has to offer, refreshments will be available throughout the day. We are inviting representation from the community in all forms, so if you, or any organisations you may know, are interested in coming along please get in touch to reserve a stall as places are limited. The information days will be taking place as follows: As we continue to open up our activities groups we will be adhering to Government COVID guidelines and working in consultation with Public Health Leeds to ensure all our activities are delivered safely and COVID secure. We hope you will be as excited as we are to have a platform for us to come together in our local areas to connect and support our communities. If you would like to find out more about our regular weekly sessions, have any questions, or to book a place at an event, in the first instance contact: mandy@netgarforth.org or call the office on: 0113 2874784.
